Typhoon Ofel Update: 17 storms signal in Visayas and Mindanao


17 areas in Visayas and Mindanao are under public storm signal warning for Tropical Storm Ofel
Below are the list of provinces:

- Northern Bukidnon
- Misamis Oriental

Pagasa said in its 5 a.m. Wednesday weather bulletin that Ofel was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph as of 4 a.m.

It said Ofel is expected to make a landfall in Siargao, in the vicinity of Surigao within the day.

Pagasa said Ofel is expected to be at 60 km northwest of Maasin, Southern Leyte by Thursday morning; at 90 km northwest of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro by Friday morning; and at 460 km west of Iba, Zambales by Saturday morning.

Pagasa warned those residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signal (PSWS) #2 and #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Residents in coastal areas under signal # 2 are alerted of possible storm surges.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 - 20 mm per hour (moderate - intense) within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the Eastern Seaboards of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao due to the combined effect of theTropical Storm "Ofel"and the Northeast Monsoon.

Super Big Crocodile in the Philippines

This is the image of the giant crocodile that was captured last Saturday in Bunawan township, Agusan del Sur Province. It was estimated to be 21-foot (6.4-meter) long and 2,370 pounds (1,075 kilograms). The crocodile killed a water buffalo last month and was suspected of having attacked a fisherman who were missing last July. It was captured by the villagers by setting a trap and about 100 people had to pull the crocodile from the creek to the clearing where it is lifted by a truck. It will be place into an ecotourism park in the southern Philippine town.
