Philippine Government Offices

1. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)
The executive department of the Philippine Government responsible for the coordination of science and technology-related projects in the Philippines and to formulate policies and projects in the fields of science and technology in support of national development.

2. Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)
The executive department of the Philippine Government tasked to expand Philippine trade, industries and investments as the means to generate jobs and raise incomes for Filipinos. It acts as catalyst for intensified private sector activity in order to accelerate and sustain economic growth through comprehensive industrial growth strategy, progressive and socially responsible trade liberalization and deregulation programs and policymaking designed for the expansion and diversification of Philippine trade - both domestic and foreign.

3. Government Service Insurance System (GSIS)
A government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) of the Philippines. Created by Commonwealth Act No. 186 passed on November 14, 1936, the GSIS is mandated to provide and administer the following social security benefits for government employees: compulsory life insurance, optional life insurance, retirement benefits, disability benefits for work-related contingencies and death benefits. In addition, the GSIS is entrusted with the administration of the General Insurance Fund by virtue of RA656 of the Property Insurance Law. It provides insurance coverage to assets and properties which have government insurable interests.

4.  Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)
Is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for promoting peace and order, ensuring public safety and strengthening local government capability aimed towards the effective delivery of basic services to the citizenry.

5. Department of Justice (DOJ)
Is under the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for upholding the rule of law in the Philippines. It is the government's principal law agency, serving as its legal counsel and prosecution arm.

6. National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)
Is an independent cabinet-level agency of the Philippine government responsible for economic development and planning. It is headed by the President of the Philippines as chairman of the NEDA board, with the Secretary of Socio-Economic Planning, concurrently NEDA Director-General, as vice-chairman. A number of Cabinet members, the Governor of the Central Bank, the Chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, the Governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the Chairman of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology, the Chairman of the Subic-Clark Area Development Corporation, and the National President of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines are members of the NEDA Board.

7. National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB)
Is the policy-making and coordinating agency on statistical matters in the Philippines created under Executive Order No. 121 issued on January 30, 1987. Its objective is to develop an orderly Philippine Statistical System (PSS) that is capable of providing timely, accurate, relevant, and useful data for the government and the public for planning and decision-making. It also promotes the independence, objectivity, integrity, relevance and responsiveness of the PSS.

8. Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)
Was created on September 12, 2013 when the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013 (Republic Act No. 10625) was signed by President Benigno S. Aquino III. The new government authority was created by merging the National Statistics Office, the National Statistical Coordination Board, the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics, and the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics.

9. Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) 
Is the information and marketing arm of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the leading storehouse of science and technology information and data in the country, founded on January 30, 1987 by virtue of Executive Order 128, signed by the former President Corazon C. Aquino.  Its functions are to establish and maintain a science and technology databank and library, to disseminate science and technology information and to undertake training on information science and technology training.

10. Civil Service Commission (CSC)
Is the Constitutional Commission of the Philippines with responsibility over the civil service. It is tasked with overseeing the integrity of government actions and processes. The commission was founded in 1900 through Act No. 5 of the Philippine Commission and was made a bureau in 1905.

11. Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP)
Was established in June 1973 and its mandate has been to assist in the country’s development efforts in two ways: as change catalyst and as capacity-builder. Remaining constantly focused on this two-fold mission, it has assisted in shaping new government policies, crafting innovative development programs, and modernizing the management of government agencies and private enterprises. This institution which is located at Pasig and Tagaytay City has focused on approaches to national development for three decades now.

12. National Computer Center (NCC)
Is an agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) under the supervision of the Office of the President, upon the issuance of the Executive Order 222 in March 2000 that supports the administration's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) drive by building strategic alliances with the private sector, coordinating ICT activities, developing human capital, promoting ICT utilization in all sectors of the society, and advocating Philippine ICT services worldwide.

13. Bureau of Customs (BOC)
Is a Philippine government agency under the Department of Finance. It is responsible for regulating and facilitating trade, assessment and collecting import duties and taxes, combating illegal trade and other forms of customs fraud, and devising and managing customs management systems for trade facilitation.

14. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Was created under the Department of Health to license, monitor, and regulate the flow of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, and household hazardous waste in the Philippines.

15. National Book Development Board (NBDB)
Is an agency of the Philippine government under the administrative supervision of the Department of Education, responsible for developing and supporting the development of the Philippine book publishing industry. The NBDB sponsors the annual National Book Awards.

16. National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)
Is an agency of the Philippine government under the Department of Justice, responsible for handling and solving major high-profile cases that are in the interest of the nation.

17. National Telecommunications Commission (NTC)
Is an attached agency of the Department of Information and Communications Technology responsible for the supervision, adjudication and control over all telecommunications services throughout the country.

18. Optical Media Board (OMB)
Is a national agency under the Office of the President responsible for regulating the production, use and distribution of recording media in the Philippines.

19) Department of Agrarian Reform
Is the executive department of the Philippine Government responsible for the redistribution of agrarian land in the Philippines.

20. Philippine National Police (PNP)
Is the armed, civilian national police force of the Philippines. Its national headquarters is at Camp Crame in Quezon City, Metro Manila, and it has 170,000 personnel.

Jessica Sanchez will sing the American national anthem in Pacquiao-Bradley fight

This coming June 9, 2012 (June 10 in Philippines) the much awaited fight between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley will happen in Las Vegas. Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) and Bradley (28-0, 12 KOs) are both boxing superstars in their own right. Bradley, the undefeated American World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior welterweight champion, will be challenging Pacquiao, an eight-division world champion. And during the fight the famous singer Jessica Sanchez, who is the first runner up in American Idol this season will be singing the United States National anthem. I know everyone is excited for this day, especially the Filipinos, expect a lesser crime, lesser traffic during this day.  We expect an exciting fight and Manny we hope you to win again!  Good luck pacman!
