Philippines - Cybercrime Prevention Act

On September 12, 2012 President Noynoy Aquino signed a Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. The act punishes libel case online and internet-related offenses.

The punishable acts under the law are the following:
- computer related forgery, fraud and identity theft, crimes in the internet

- offenses against confidentiality, integrity and availability of computer data system

- illegal access, illegal interception, data interference, system interference and misuse of devices

- content related offenses on cybersex and child pornography

- cyber squatting (the user of other person domain name to profit, misled, destroy the reputation and deprive others from registering)

- offenses on libel committed through a computer system

The National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police will make a cybercrime unit and have a center for special investigators.

Though this law is for people's protection it also has some disadvantages. Some people are reacting that this law ends our freedom of expression. Our comment for blogs, in facebook or any sites can send us to jail.

Hmmn, from now on, we should be more careful in our statements in the internet.

Jessica Sanchez will sing the American national anthem in Pacquiao-Bradley fight

This coming June 9, 2012 (June 10 in Philippines) the much awaited fight between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley will happen in Las Vegas. Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) and Bradley (28-0, 12 KOs) are both boxing superstars in their own right. Bradley, the undefeated American World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior welterweight champion, will be challenging Pacquiao, an eight-division world champion. And during the fight the famous singer Jessica Sanchez, who is the first runner up in American Idol this season will be singing the United States National anthem. I know everyone is excited for this day, especially the Filipinos, expect a lesser crime, lesser traffic during this day. We expect an exciting fight and Manny we hope you to win again! Super Big Crocodile in the Philippines

This is the image of the giant crocodile that was captured last Saturday in Bunawan township, Agusan del Sur Province. It was estimated to be 21-foot (6.4-meter) long and 2,370 pounds (1,075 kilograms). The crocodile killed a water buffalo last month and was suspected of having attacked a fisherman who were missing last July. It was captured by the villagers by setting a trap and about 100 people had to pull the crocodile from the creek to the clearing where it is lifted by a truck. It will be place into an ecotourism park in the southern Philippine town.
